If you look closely at advertisements for Amish fireplaces, you will likely notice in the fine print that they’re apparently being shipped to you from China. That’s right; the Chinese have forsworn technology and converted to become Amish Mennonites! These newly converted Amish are still getting the hang of their religious convictions however. They are running advertisements in the newspaper, as well as web sites.

The validity of the Amish craftsmanship in an Amish fireplace is something that few who would deign to purchase one would be inclined to fact check, much less actively dispute. If you are truly interested in the origins of these units, you would be doing yourself and everyone else a favor by investigating them.

If you do a search for Amish fireplaces, you will see several consumer watchdog agencies show up in the results. This is for good reason, a heater made in china is not likely to be Amish in origins, and trading on the Amish brand name to simulate quality is shady business practice at best, and fraudulent at worst. It’s just unfortunate that the Amish are adverse enough to the American court system that they aren’t likely to go after the company for it.
